Method of Application
- Interested
candidates shall complete the application form on the university portal
and provide all relevant documents as specified on the application form
- This
should include certificates or degrees and/r diplomas, academic
transcripts, reference letters, and a 500-word statement of intent in the
proposed research area.
- Candidates
who are Nigerian citizens shall in addition provide the National Youth
Service Corps (NYSC) discharge/ exemption or exclusion certificate.
Screening Details
- All
applicants shall undergo a screening exercise, involving written and oral
tests in the desired programme. A minimum score of 50% in each of the
categories is required for a candidate to be considered eligible for
admission. Candidate’s academic transcripts must be received before the
final admission could be processed.
International Candidates
- International
candidates who may be applying for any of the programmes would have their
screening examinations conducted online. Such candidates are expected to
forward their intention (interest) by email to the Dean, School of
Postgraduate Studies on the link: deansps@covenantuniversity.edu.ng to
include their Skype ID, phone number and time/date of choice.
Transcripts
The Candidates should
request their former Universities/Institutions to forward their academic
transcript(s) to the Dean “School of Postgraduate Studies”, within application
period. Candidates whose transcripts are not forwarded to the school shall not
have their applications processed. Transcripts being sent to the university can
be ordered from any school in Nigeria via the Electronic Transcript Exchange of
Nigeria (ETX-NG) - https://www.etx-ng.com/
Covenant
University Postgraduate School Entry Requirements:
Master’s
Degrees
- A candidate
seeking admission to the Master’s Degree Programme of Covenant University
must be a graduate of Covenant University or any other University
recognized by the Senate of Covenant University, with a minimum of Second
Class (Lower Division). The duration of full-time study for the award of
the Master’s degree is 18 months (3 semesters), while for the part-time,
the duration is 30 months (5 semesters). Candidates are also to note that
there are other requirements that may be specific to a College and/or a
Programme.
Master of
Philosophy Degrees
- A candidate with
CGPA of 3.5 – 3.9 on a 5.0 point scale (= 55%) or equivalent in the
Master’s programme may be considered for M.Phil/PhD programme. The minimum
duration for the full-time M.Phil/PhD programme is seven (7) semesters or
three and one-half (3½) academic years. The minimum duration for the
part-time M.Phil/PhD programme is nine (9) semesters or four and one-half
(4½) academic years.
Master of
Business Administration
- Candidates seeking admission to the MBA
degree programme must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
with at least a second class lower division from covenant university or
any other University recognised by the Senate, Candidates with Third Class
Bachelor’s degree, HND (minimum: lower credit) in a relevant discipline or
professional qualifications such as ACA, ICAN, ACIB etc. must have, in
addition a Postgraduate diploma (PGD) with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 to
qualify for admission. The duration of study for the award of the MBA
degree is two academic sessions (Full-Time)
Doctorate
Degree
- A Candidate
seeking admission to the direct PhD Degree Programme of Covenant
University must have obtained a Master’s of Covenant University or any
other University recognized by the Senate of Covenant University, with a
CGPA of 4.00 or 60%. Candidates that have obtained a CGPA below 4.0 but
had 3.5 and above (or 55%) will be considered for the M.Phil/PhD. The
M.Phil/PhD programme is intended to prepare candidates for the PhD since
Covenant University does not award The M.Phil degree.
