The Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) was instituted by the Federal Government of Nigeria under General Yakubu Gowon on 3rd July, 1969 through Decree No 10 of 1969. This Decree has gone through a series of amendments, culminating in the current Architects Act Chapter A19 The Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004. Principally, the Act empowers ARCON to regulate the training of Architects and the practice of Architecture in all aspects and all ramifications in Nigeria. It approves the course programmes in institutions and conducts “ARCON belongs to all 170 million Nigerians who by law have to set up a body to regulate the work of architects, who modify (through design) the physical environment in which they live, move and have their being.

ACRON Architects Regularization Programme.

Candidate must possess either of the under listed in addition to a secondary school certificate and NYSC discharge and exemption certificate.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from and accredited institution in Nigeria plus a Master’s Degree in Architecture from a non-accredited institution in Nigeria.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from a non-accredited institution in Nigeria plus a Master’s Degree in Architecture from an accredited institution in Nigeria.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from a non-accredited institution in Nigeria plus a Master’s Degree in Architecture from a non-accredited institution in Nigeria.

 

ACRON Architects Competency Programme.

Candidate must possess either of the under listed in addition to a secondary school certificate and NYSC discharge and exemption certificate:

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Architecture 
  • Minimum of 2 years supervised post-qualification practice from date of graduation.
  • Candidate must be Nigerian and live in Nigeria.
  • Candidate must be fully involved in the practice of architecture in Nigeria, under the supervision of an architect who is financially and fully registered to practice architecture in Nigeria with a minimum of 5 years post registration experience
  • Candidates with foreign qualification must ensure that their degrees qualify for full registration by the professional bodies in the country of origin of their degrees.
